«Glory to Moscow Power Engineers!»

During the war, Mosenergo workers ensured the uninterrupted operation of Moscow’s power grid. On Raushskaya Embankment, a 24/7 command post was established to coordinate emergency response operations. All staff were on standby at the barracks, ready to respond to any emergency. A special energy regiment, whose members had exemptions from conscription, worked to restore power lines, repair equipment, and supply energy to strategic facilities during blackouts in 1941. Mosenergo specialists also participated in the construction of an electrical barrier system around Moscow, which was 230 kilometers long by the end of 1941. To manage this system, a special dispatch service was established, connected to a central control room in the Revolution Square metro station. The technical achievement was the development of oil-filled cable lines with copper cores, which were divided into sealed sections with individual oil tanks. These lines served for over 60 years before they were replaced by modern polyethylene cables. In July 1941, a bombing attack killed 32 employees of Mosenergo and injured more than 100. In 1985, Mosenergo received the Order of the Patriotic War of the First Degree in recognition of its contribution to energy supply.
