Church of the Icon of the Mother of God «Pantanassa» in Shcherbinkaке

The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Vsezaritsa”in Shcherbinka is located at 15, Zheleznodorozhnaya Street. The miraculous icon of the Mother of God, known as Vsezaritsa (in Greek, Pantanassa), is located on Mount Athos in Greece, in the cathedral church of the Vatopedi Monastery, to the left of the royal gates. This small image was created in the 17th century and became the blessing of the Athonite elder Joseph the Hesychast to his disciples. The icon was brought to Vatopedi by Joseph Spileot (Caveman) Watopedsky. The icon depicts the Virgin in crimson robes, sitting on the royal throne. In Her arms is the Christ Child, holding a scroll in His left hand and blessing with his right. The Mother of God points to Her Son with Her right hand, emphasizing His role as the Savior of mankind. In the background there are two angels who reverently overshadow the Virgin with their wings. According to the legend told by Elder Joseph the Hesychast, the first miracle of the Vsezaritsa icon occurred when a young man entered the temple who wanted to worship the image. Suddenly, the face of the Mother of God shone with an extraordinary light, and an invisible force threw the young man to the ground. In fear, he got up and, approaching the monks, tearfully confessed that he had led a sinful life, practiced witchcraft and came to the monastery to test the power of his magic on the holy icons. This miracle forced the young man to give up witchcraft, embark on the path of repentance and return to a pious life. The miraculous image of the Mother of God “Vsezaritsa” is revered not only on Mount Athos, but also far beyond its borders. The name of the icon — “All-Lady” or “All-Mistress” — emphasizes its special, all-encompassing power. Having shown her miraculous power against witchcraft, Vsezaritsa is also known for the grace of healing from oncological diseases, which are considered one of the most terrible diseases of our time. The spread of fascination with magic and the occult in the Christian world can be compared to a spiritual “tumor”, against which the icon acts as a powerful spiritual weapon.
