Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin in Tolstopaltsevo


The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tolstopaltsevo is part of a temple complex located on the central square of this village. The complex includes two temples: a large one dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, and a small one, consecrated in honor of the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. On May 27, 2002, a Parish meeting was held in Moscow, chaired by Archpriest Georgy Studenov, dean of churches in the Mikhailovsky district. It was decided to seek the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia for the construction of a temple complex in Tolstopaltsevo. On June 4, 2002, Patriarch Alexy II approved the establishment of the Parish and gave his blessing to the construction of churches. The construction of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ began on April 4, 2004, Palm Sunday, with the installation of a Cross at the site of the future construction. In the autumn of the same year, the foundation of the Maly Pokrovsky church was laid, and a temporary belfry with nine bells donated by a resident of the village was installed. October 13, 2004 A thanksgiving prayer service was held on the territory of the future complex and the foundation stone of the small temple was laid. The prayer service was led by Archpriest Georgy Studenov. The construction of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was carried out from October 2004 to April 2005. On April 22, 2005, the cross, dome and bells of the church were consecrated, and on April 24, Palm Sunday, a small consecration and the first Divine Liturgy took place. The consecration ceremony was led by Archpriest Georgy Studenov with the participation of the clergy of the Church of Archangel Michael in Troparevo. On October 14, 2011, the day of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, the first episcopal service was held at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, led by Bishop Ignatius of Bronnitsky, Vicar of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
