Church of All Venerable Fathers of Kievo-Pechersk in Starye Cheryomushki

The Synaxis of All Saints of the Kiev Caves is a feast of the Russian Orthodox Church honoring the saints of the Kiev Caves Lavra, encompassing the venerable fathers of both the Near and Far Caves. It is celebrated on the second Sunday of Great Lent. In honor of these saints, a church complex was established in Moscow’s Starye Cheryomushki under the Program for the Construction of Orthodox Churches, founded by Patriarchal decree in 2012. Its centerpiece is a wooden church built in honor of the Venerable Fathers of the Kiev Caves. The first stage of the project in 2013 was the construction of a chapel, where prayer services began in 2014. In the spring of the same year, construction of the main church commenced: its log structure was specially crafted from high-quality timber from the Arkhangelsk region. Active construction and landscaping in 2014–2015 were carried out with the support of parishioners, the Academichesky District administration, and the Southwestern Administrative District prefecture. In 2015, a carved four-tier wooden iconostasis made by master craftsmen from Vladimir was installed; the altar floor was laid with marble, and the refectory area with decorative tiles. The church, accommodating 150 people, was put into operation in September 2018. In addition to the church, the complex includes a two-story stone parish house and a Sunday school building with three classrooms, equipped with a cloakroom, a stage, and an operator’s booth, making the school also a cultural center for the parish. The spiritual symbol of the church became the Svensk-Pechersk Icon of the Mother of God, commissioned and consecrated by parishioners during a pilgrimage to the Kiev Caves Lavra in 2013. Today, the church complex continues to develop, remaining an important center of spiritual life and community for the residents of Starye Cheryomushki.
