Church of St. Anthony and Theodosius of Kiev-Pechersk in Bibirevo

The Church of the Venerable Anthony and Theodosius of Kiev-Pechersk in Bibirevo is located in a picturesque park of the Bibirevo district at building 52A, Korneychuka street. It was built in the best traditions of Russian wooden architecture. The uniqueness of the temple is not only that it is completely built of wood, which is a rarity for a modern large metropolis. Built in 2004, by the efforts of the Administration of the Bibirevo district and the parish of the Church of the Ordination in Leonovo, the church was consecrated in honor of the great reverend fathers Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves, the founders of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, persistent monks and ascetics of piety. The importance of the Venerable Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves for the history of the Russian Church can hardly be overestimated. Founded by the Venerable Anthony and arranged by the Venerable Theodosius, the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery became a model for other monasteries and had a great importance for the development of the Russian Church. Famous archpastors, zealous preachers of the faith and wonderful writers came out of its walls. The high spiritual culture of monastic life in the Kiev period gave rise to a whole host of monks, whose stories about life and exploits have not lost their high spiritual content to this day. The Holy Church honors the joint Memorial Day of the Venerable Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves — September 2 (15).
