Church of Archangel Michael and His Miracle at Chonae in Bylovo

The Church of Archangel Michael is an active Orthodox church belonging to the Novotroitsk deanery of the Moscow City Diocese. It is located in the village of Bylovo in the Troitsk Administrative District of Moscow. The first mention of the church in Bylovo dates back to 1627. Documents from that time indicate that it was a wooden church with icons, books, bells and other church decorations. By 1681, the temple had fallen into disrepair, and probably later a new wooden church was built in its place. In January 1856, the priest N. Saryevsky and the churchwarden E. Leonov turned to Metropolitan Filaret for his blessing on the construction of a stone church. On August 9, 1857, the consistory issued a decree on the start of construction. Significant financial support was provided by a local breeder, T. Prostov, whose grave was preserved on the territory of the temple. In 1938, the rector of the church, Archpriest Nikolai Pospelov, was arrested on charges of counterrevolutionary activities and executed at the Butovo training ground. He was rehabilitated in 1956 and canonized in 2000. During the Soviet period, the temple remained one of the few operating in the area. In the 2000s. It has been renovated: the facades, interior, iconostases and ancient icons have been updated.  In the 2000s, a Sunday School was organized at the temple, where children are taught the Law of God, prayers, church history, church singing and the basics of worship. The program also includes confession, Communion, pilgrimages and participation in festive productions.
