The Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian with the chapels of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (right) and the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky (left) is located in Krasnoe Selo on the banks of the Stradanka River, near its confluence with the Pakhra, about 5 km from Troitsk. The temple was built in 1703 by the Imeretian tsar Archil Bagrationi according to the vow of his son, Tsarevich Alexander, and consecrated in 1710. The right side chapel was added and consecrated in 1786, and the left in 1795. The first mention of the Church of John the Evangelist dates back to 1702, when work began on its decoration. The main construction was completed in 1703, but the consecration took place only in 1710 due to defects. In 1706, the village passed to the Dadiani princes. At the end of the 18th century, Prince Alexander Dadiani carried out a large-scale reconstruction of the temple. In 1786, the right side chapel was consecrated, and in 1795, the left. In 1800, the prince petitioned for the renovation of the temple, including plastering the walls. During the Patriotic War of 1812, the church was looted by the French, but not burned. In 1813-1831, the left side chapel was rededicated in honor of Alexander Nevsky. In 1829, the temple was renovated, and in 1908. an oven heating system was installed. During the Soviet period, the church was closed and used as a club, printing house and gym. Crosses and bell towers were destroyed, and the building fell into disrepair. In 1990, the temple began to be restored. The first prayer services were conducted by Abbot Theodore (Volchkov), rector of the neighboring church in Bylovo. By 1991, a temporary iconostasis was installed in the Peter and Paul chapel and regular services began. The Church of St. John the Theologian is an architectural and historical monument that has preserved traces of different eras and the efforts of many generations.
