Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsk

The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsk is located at 1 Solnechnaya St.. It was consecrated in honor of one of the main Christian holidays. The Orthodox Church celebrates it on Sunday, the 50th day after Easter. The temple was designed by architect Viktor Mikhailovich Pustovalov. The appearance of the temple inherits the traditional features of the Novgorod-Pskov architecture of the XV–XVI centuries. The two―storey church has three altars: the central one was consecrated in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity, the southern one in honor of the VIC. Nikita Gotfsky, Nizhny Novgorod ― in honor of the Nativity of the Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John. The doctrine of the Trinity is reflected in church art, especially in the Eastern Christian tradition. It is embodied in the mosaics of Ravenna and Constantinople, as well as in the icon of Andrei Rublev. This teaching also influenced the understanding of man as a unique personality. In the pre-Christian world, including ancient culture, the concept of “personality” was absent. A person was perceived as part of a whole — a clan, a tribe, or a nation. His personality was limited by his social role, and his inner world and desires did not go beyond the framework of a given system. In Christianity, thanks to the doctrine of the Trinity, personality acquires a different meaning. The hypostases of the Holy Trinity are free and full—fledged Individuals who fully own their Essence. Man, created in the image of the Trinity, was originally conceived as a being capable of controlling his nature, rather than obeying it. However, the fall disrupted this order, subjugating man to his own instincts and desires. The central element of this ideal is Love, which defines a person’s relationship with God and other people. In the Trinity, Love is not an abstract concept, but the essence of being, expressed in mutual dedication and acceptance. This interpenetration of divine Hypostases confirms the New Testament statement.: “God is Love” (1 John 4:8).
