P.M. Vostrukhin (1921-1943) was an ace pilot, senior pilot of the 271st Fighter Aviation Regiment, Lieutenant, the Hero of the Soviet Union. He made 83 combat sorties, participated in 40 air battles, shot down 16 personally and 3 enemy aircraft in a group. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 1, 1943, P.M. Vostrukhin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. He was killed in an air battle near the village of Alyoshnya in the Zalegoshchensky district of the Oryol region. The monument is a bronze bust of a pilot placed on a polished granite pedestal. Mounted on a stereobate, lined with artificial stone tiles from the facades and granite slabs on the upper plane. P.M. Vostrukhin is depicted in a pilot’s suit, head and shoulders are shown full-face. In the upper part of the pedestal, the inscription is executed in slotted letters: «Hero of the Soviet Union Pyotr Mikhailovich Vostrukhin».
