«SMO. Defenders of the Fatherland»

«SMO. Defenders of the Fatherland» is a large-scale and emotionally powerful project created to preserve the memory of today’s heroes. Through unique relics, personal testimonies, and innovative technologies, the exhibition conveys the true story of the Special Military Operation, fostering a sense of patriotism and pride in those who display exceptional courage and resilience while defending the nation’s interests. On an open-air site covering 8,000 square meters, an impressive outdoor display has been set up. Here, 23 captured pieces of military equipment from NATO countries and Ukraine, destroyed during combat operations, are on view. Among the most notable exhibits are: armored vehicles Kozak-5, BMC Kirpi (Turkey), Roshel Senator (Canada), International MaxxPro (USA); infantry fighting vehicles Marder 1A3 (Germany), Bradley (USA); and the M1A1SA Abrams tank (USA). This collection vividly illustrates the scale of foreign military involvement and provides a comprehensive picture of the role different countries play in the conflict. Inside the Main Building of the Victory Museum, history is revealed through six thematic sections: «Operation Z» – the central part, drawing a strong parallel between the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and today’s defenders. Interactive screens recount stories of heroism, emphasizing the continuity of generations and the preservation of military traditions. Special attention is given to units that have once again been awarded Guards titles; «Voice of the Front»; «Chronicle of Heroism»; «Saur-Mogila»; «Heroes Z». «Faith» – a unique section highlighting the spiritual dimension of bravery. Here visitors can see: a melted bell recovered near Ugledar; church artifacts and fragments of a destroyed temple; a battle banner bearing the image of the Holy Mandylion; and personal belongings of military chaplains. The exhibition brings together more than 250 authentic items, each a silent witness to courage and valor: personal belongings of soldiers — letters, awards, pieces of equipment; examples of modern weaponry, including unmanned aerial vehicles «Sibir-2» and «Sibiryachok-4»; and unique artifacts from the combat zone. The atmosphere is further shaped by a photographic chronicle created by war correspondents of MIA «Russia Today» and TASS. Their images, taken at the risk of their lives, form a living record of events. A separate memorial section is dedicated to servicemen awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. Here every visitor can see the faces of the heroes and learn about their extraordinary feats. The exhibition «SMO. Defenders of the Fatherland» serves as a bridge between past and present, a tribute of gratitude to the heroes, and a significant educational resource. It is a place where history comes alive and where everyone can feel a personal connection to the destiny of the nation.
