Stele to the CNIITMASH employees who died in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945

The stele was installed in memory of the TSNIITMASH workers died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, TSNIITMASH solved key issues related to the production of tanks and ammunition, despite the fact that during the war the company was partially evacuated to the Sverdlovsk region and was also engaged in technical assistance to factories in the Urals and Siberia. The main task facing the workers at that time was to provide all the necessary front and rear. Practically all the departments of the Institute existing at that time were included in the work on changing the subject of production. The task of creating equipment for conducting work in the field required special attention. For example, the implementation of the welding process required the development of a design and production of detachable wagons with a diameter of 300 mm (a melting furnace for smelting cast iron), which were placed in the back of a truck, could move after the troops and melt cast iron at stops. The technology was developed and the production of cylinder liner blanks on centrifugal machines was mastered, which could produce products without installing these machines on foundations. Along the way, the technology of casting blanks in molds with bulk thermal insulation was developed, i.e., four operations were excluded at once: molding, drying, coloring of molds and knocking out the burnt mixture. The work of TSNIITMASH employees during the war was awarded government awards. In the round hall of the old building of the Institute, on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Council, TSNIITMASH employees were awarded medals “For the Defense of Moscow” and “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.” 61 volunteer employees of the Institute did not return from the front. In memory of the soldiers who did not return from the war, the stele is installed in the courtyard of the Institute. Currently, TSNIITMASH does not forget its history: with the support of the Institute, the Council of Veterans of TSNIITMASH works, there is the Alley of Glory on the territory, where the monument to soldiers died in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is installed.
