Prechistenskaya Embankment

Prechistenskaya Embankment – a historical gem on the river, located in the prestigious Khamovniki district. Prechistenskaya Embankment stretches along the Moskva River from Novokrymsky Proezd to Lenivka Street. It is a place where history harmoniously combines with modernity, offering picturesque views and an atmosphere for leisurely strolls. The embankment begins beyond the Krymsky Bridge, continuing from Frunzenskaya, and leads to the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge, smoothly transitioning into Kremlyovskaya. Its 1.73 km route passes by iconic landmarks, including the majestic Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The name “Prechistenskaya” dates back to the 18th century and is connected to the neighboring Prechistenka Street. During the Soviet period, the embankment bore the name Kropotkinskaya, but in 1993, its historical name was restored. Key Landmarks: Patriarch’s Bridge: A pedestrian arched bridge (2004), connecting the Cathedral of Christ the Savior with Bolotny Island. Serves as a popular viewing platform with panoramas of the Kremlin; Pertsova’s House (Pertsov House): A masterpiece of the Neo-Russian style (1907) on the corner with Soymonovsky Proezd, famous for its fairy-tale facade with carved details; Tsvetkov Mansion: Another example of the Neo-Russian style, designed by the artist Viktor Vasnetsov. The building resembles the terema (towers) from Russian fairy tales. Transport Access: The beginning of the embankment is located near the Park Kultury metro station, while the area near Soymonovsky Proezd is not far from the Kropotkinskaya metro station. Bus № 255 runs along the section from Soymonovsky Proezd to Kremlyovskaya Embankment.
