Alexey Mikhailovich Isaev was designer of liquid rocket engines, Doctor of Technical Sciences (1959), Professor. In 1931 he graduated from the Mining Institute, worked at the Tagil Metallurgical Plant (1931-1934), Aviation Plant No. 22 (now the Rocket and Space Plant of the State Space Research and Production Center named after M.V. Khrunichev; 1934), at aircraft Plant No. 293 (1943-1944).  He was the designer of the RD-1 rocket engine for the BI-1 interceptor missile aircraft (1942), Chief Designer of NII-88 (1944-1959), Chief designer of OKB-2 (now it is KB himmash; 1959-1971). Under the guidance of A.M. Isaev liquid rocket engines were created for the third stages of the «Vostok», «Voskhod» and «Soyuz» launch vehicles, corrective braking propulsion systems of the «Luna», «Mars», «Venus» and «Zond» AMS series, «Molniya», «Polet» and «Cosmos» ISS series, KK «Soyuz», orbital stations of the «Salyut» series and the «Mir» complex, and other spacecraft. He became Hero of Socialist Labor (1956), Laureate of the Stalin (1948), Lenin (1958) and State (1968) Prizes of the USSR. He was awarded four Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution and medals.
