Model spaceship «BTS-001 Buran»

The model of the Buran spacecraft was once used for testing the air transportation of a real Buran by a VM-T carrier aircraft, as well as for static strength tests. The program for the creation of the Soviet reusable space system Energia-Buran was launched in 1974 and initially aimed at creating an analogue of the American Space Shuttle system. The first copy of the Buran was builtin 1984, also two full-fledged Soviet shuttles were built, plus several models, on which all the necessary tests and studies were carried out, including one flying model for testing flights in the atmosphere. The first and last flight of Buran into space took place on November 15, 1988, completely in automatic mode. Both the launch and landing were carried out at the Baikonur cosmodrome. The model of the BTS-001 was first transferred to Gorky Park in Moscow for use as a specialized space attraction, and in 2014 it was transported to VDNH, where it was installed next to one of the pavilions and attached to it with the help of a specially constructed gallery. There is a profile interactive exposition inside the ship.
