Monument to students and teachers of school № 201 who died for their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War
The monument is installed in the courtyard of the gymnasium, opened in 1981. The authors of the project were sculptor Oleg Antonovich Ikonnikov and architect Karo Sergeevich Shekhoyan. The memorial is a granite wall on which the names of the victims are carved. In its openings there are busts of Zoya and Alexander Kosmodemyansky. Four of the victims received the title of Heroes of the Soviet Union: Zoya and Alexander Kosmodemyansky, Georgy Lashin and Pavel Grazhdanov. The most severe consequences of the Great Patriotic War for the Soviet Union are its human losses – military personnel and civilians, amounting to 26.6 million people. The specified number of total human losses includes military personnel and partisans killed in battle and who died of wounds and diseases, starved to death, civilians killed during bombing, artillery shelling and punitive actions, prisoners of war shot and tortured in concentration camps, underground workers, as well as workers, peasants and employees stolen for hard labor.
