Sculpture «To the stars!»

The sculpture was created at the dawn of the development of practical cosmonautics, and the first launches of ballistic missiles were carried out. It was opened in 1958 a month before the launch of the first artificial satellite of the earth and became a symbol of the first space launch. The sculpture «To the Stars» was installed at the Central entrance to the Catherine Park in 1958. It represents a person launching a rocket into the sky. A young, half-naked man in a loincloth, like Prometheus, like a torch, holds a rocket aimed skyward. The figure of Prometheus of the XX century is installed on a granite pedestal, in front of which there is a stone vase for flowers.
