Vladimir Nikolaevich Nosov

1988-2022

Vladimir Nikolaevich Nosov was a Guards Captain and the commander of the 1st Air Assault Company of the 336th Separate Guards Marine Brigade of the Baltic Fleet, posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. He was born on April 14, 1988, in the village of Koroviy Ruchey, the Ust-Tsilimsky District, the Komi ASSR (now the Republic of Komi). In 2006, he finished the cadet secondary school in his hometown, where he led the school’s military-patriotic club “Berkut” and was actively engaged in sports. Nosov began his service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as a cadet at Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School named after Army General V.F. Margelov. After graduating in 2011, he served in various military units, rising to the position of company commander in the 336th Separate Guards Belostok Marine Brigade of the Baltic Fleet, stationed in Baltiysk, the Kaliningrad Region. From 2016 to 2017, he led a group of 12 marines responsible for ensuring the safety of the large landing ship “Korolev” during its voyage to the Mediterranean Sea. In 2019, he was deployed to the Syrian Arab Republic for special operations, for which he received several medals. In March 2022, Nosov participated in the special military operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. In his first battle on March 12, near the settlement of Oktyabrsky in the DPR, his company halted the enemy’s advance, destroying two armored vehicles and approximately 30 enemy soldiers. During subsequent combat operations, he successfully repelled attacks and held positions, incurring no losses while destroying three more armored vehicles. From March 18 to 25, 2022, Captain Nosov’s company defended the settlement of Lyubimovka in the Zaporozhie Region, repelling multiple enemy assaults, destroying three reconnaissance-diversion groups, and capturing 10 soldiers, including an officer. On March 26, under the cover of artillery fire, the enemy attacked a neighboring company, creating the threat of encirclement. Following orders, Captain Nosov led a combined company to assist. In a fierce battle, he launched a counterattack, thwarted the enemy’s advance, and facilitated the withdrawal of marines from encirclement, destroying a T-72 tank, two armored vehicles, and over 30 enemy soldiers. Being at the frontline, Captain Nosov maintained his composure and skillfully directed his troops but was mortally wounded. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation on May 25, 2022, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his bravery and heroism. The “Gold Star” medal was presented to his family by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral N.A. Yevmenov, on June 22, 2022, in St. Petersburg. He was also awarded various departmental medals. In memory of his heroism, a bust of V.N. Nosov was installed near the cadet school building in his hometown, which was also named after him. In 2022, a counter-diversion boat of project 21980, “Grachonok,” of the Baltic Fleet was named in his honour, and a school in his native village was named after him in the same year.
