Monument to the Solar system

The monument is located on the Cosmonauts Alley. It is a mockup of the Solar System. There is a Sun in the very center with a sundial, spheres of different sizes are frozen around the luminary – metal planets mounted on a granite pedestal. The remaining planets are in the same order and position relative to each other, in which they were located on the day of the launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth (October 4, 1957). There are 8 planets and the dwarf planet Pluto around the Sun. On the sphere depicting the Earth, the location of the Baikonur cosmodrome, from which the launch vehicle of the first satellite was launched, is separately marked. Brass inserts in the form of stripes-orbits with the characteristics of the planets and indicating the distance from the Sun are reinforced on the pedestal. A special place is given to the sculptural image of the Baikonur cosmodrome. A place that marked a new milestone in the exploration of outer space. By the sundial on a cool day you can determine the time. The evening illumination, which the monument is equipped with, gives it a colorful look.
